Proverbs 3:25-26

Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,

for the LORD will be your confidence

and will keep your foot from being snared.

Fearless

I don't think we've cornered the market on fear lately. It seems there are so many reasons to have fear these days. It almost seems as though mankind is inventing new ways to create fear. You have your twinges created through the media, from economy crisis to the rise of crime. Then you have the folks who invoke terror in us all, so much so they get their own title: "terrorists." But, God did not create us to be filled with fear. He left behind His Word that tells us and teaches us how to be fearless. Max Lucado is an author who helped to shape my faith, starting in my teenage years. He has a gentleness about him in his message, tempered with truth through God's Word. He is one of my favorites. His latest book, Fearless, did not disappoint!

This book calls us to live a life without fear. It names several fears and ponders them, essentially attacking them. This is a quick, easy read but that does not mean it is simple. You will find yourself in the pages and determine which fears you have. Then you will find solace in God's promises. We are not alone in our fear. God knew that we would struggle with fear and worry and left many promises for us!

Like many of his books, Max includes a study guide at the end. This would make an excellent small group Bible study.

I hope you will check it out for yourself.

Hosea 12:6

Wow! It is already September....and time once again for another Scripture I want to put in this head....I need so much Scripture in my head that nothing else fits. Because as it is, the stuff in my head needs out....it is mostly destructive. Worry mostly. God created us knowing our tendency to worry, which is why so much Scripture tells us not to worry or not to be afraid. One day....maybe I will listen.

Here's my Scripture, it is from Hosea and in the New International Version:

"But you must return to your God;
maintain love and justice,
and wait for your God always."
